Alas cable TV, we had a good run…

When I moved to my new place back in October, I decided to only get RoadRunner installed, sans any cable package. I’ve got things to do, books to read, stuff to learn and new businesses to start. But alas, cruel destiny had determined it was not to be so.
I received free basic cable for a year as part of a special deal for getting the amped up RoadRunner service. Yes, it’s only 30 channels with a boatload of useless ones, but even that limited channel selection is impairing my ability to move towards the gaining side of being more productive. So much for that Army training and discipline…
I’m not a “resolution” guy, but it’s time to kick the habit again for a spell while I get some other things rolling. Having a new gadget in the form of a Kindle will help ease the transition so the withdrawals should only be a dull ache as opposed to severe pain :)
I’ve done this 3 or 4 times before in the past ranging from a few months to a few years and always find it intriguing how quickly you find other productive things to do. It’s actually how I found time to get into playing guitar when I was in my mid-twenties and how i learned a new programming languages in the past.
Here’s the deal though, I can watch when I’m on a machine at the gym. Rather healthy alternative if I do say so myself.
